Skilled Migrants -Tier 1 visa

A visa gained under this programme allows you to enter the UK to seek and take up work for an initial period of 24 months. Your family can also join you in the UK.

You can do any work related to your professional background including setting up your own business. You do not need a prior offer of work to get the visa. One month prior to the expiry of this visa you will be able to apply for further permission to stay as a Highly Skilled Migrant.

Normally, permission is given to remain for a further 3-year period. Once you have been living in the United Kingdom as a Highly Skilled Migrant for a total of Five years, you and your family can apply for a settlement visa to live in the UK permanently.
